What Are Sculptra® & RADIESSE®?
Sculptra® and RADIESSE® are injectable aesthetic products, but they are made from different materials and have different treatment characteristics.
Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. It is designed to work gradually, with aesthetic improvement developing over time following treatment.
RADIESSE® contains calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. It may provide structural correction in selected treatment areas while also supporting changes in the surrounding tissue over time.

Sculptra® vs. RADIESSE®
Both products can play a role in aesthetic treatment, but their composition, approved indications and treatment approach differ.
Sculptra®
Sculptra® is made with poly-L-lactic acid. It is indicated for correction of shallow-to-deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region, and other facial wrinkles.
Rather than being designed around an immediate final result, Sculptra® treatment produces gradual aesthetic improvement over the weeks following treatment.
RADIESSE®
RADIESSE® contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. It is FDA-approved for correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds.
RADIESSE® (+) also has an FDA indication for improving moderate-to-severe loss of jawline contour in adults over age 21.
How Sculptra® Treatment Is Different
Sculptra® is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable that works gradually. Patients should expect improvement to develop over time rather than viewing the appearance immediately after injection as the final result.
Treatment planning may involve more than one session depending on the patient's anatomy and the correction being addressed. Your injector determines the appropriate treatment plan.
